South Knoxville

Once the home of the prestigious World’s Fair, people are still enjoying what that honor brought to this area so many years later. Taking a ride all the way up the Sunsphere is always a “first” on everyone’s list of things to do in Knoxville and things to see whether close by or simply within viewing distance from the foot of the Smoky Mountains. Blink once and look directly south where you’ll see the Tennessee River and beyond. The excitement that exudes from the downtown area is completely different than the sub-urban terrain and landscape that gives you multiple ways to enjoy the outdoors. This so-called “Urban Wilderness” stretches for 1,000 acres. Biking, hiking and rock climbing are great individual sports in South Knoxville, although taking a friend makes it that much more enjoyable. And if that’s not enough, the watersports on this end of South Knoxville include not only paddleboarding, kayaking, and canoeing but there’s so much more to explore. So, take a trip to “SoKno,” grab a cold one, kick back and enjoy your surroundings. This may just be the best neighborhood in Knoxville for you.
