A Bit More About Ryan

Known for his patience, listening skills, caring, and understanding, Ryan serves his clients starting from the moment they reach out with market analysis, comparable properties, title expenses, and monthly mortgage estimates through to the negotiation of contracts, and beyond the close of every property. Don't like all these numbers? Overwhelming? It all can be, and Ryan adjusts to his clients' preferences to ensure every client understands the process. The more you understand, the smoother the transaction will be!

With just over 20 years of personal and professional real estate experience, Ryan is dedicated to helping clients navigate the buying and selling process from start to finish to a high level of success.

A long-term resident of East TN, Ryan has developed a reputable list of expert vendors for inspections, warranties, repairs, and lending. With in-depth knowledge of Anderson, Blount, Knox, Sevier, and the surrounding local communities, neighborhoods, and enclaves, Ryan will provide you with the best options on the market that will have you in love with where you live and work.

Supported by three generations of respected Smith and Prater family presence in Knox and Blount Counties, Ryan currently resides in his 30th and forever home in Maryville, TN.

After moving frequently throughout his childhood and spending time touring homes with his parents at each relocation they went through with his parents’ company, Ryan quickly became interested in real estate, homes, and enclaves of micro-culture which permeate Tennessee. After traveling the world — including teaching English in China, receiving a Master's degree from Birkbeck College and University of London, a stint studying at Trinity College in Dublin, traveling for research to South Africa, India, and Argentina... Ryan is happy to call East Tennessee home.

Ryan’s favorite thing about living in East Tennessee is the breathtaking mountain scenery and distinct seasons. Plus, there is always something to do in Knoxville, Maryville, Sevierville, Clinton, or Dandridge- the rivers and lakes surrounding this area and the plethora of amazing locally owned businesses, restaurants, and outdoor activities keep all of our residents busy and genuinely happy. In his free time, Ryan also enjoys playing polo (from the back of a horse), gardening (AKA digging in the dirt), cooking (his mother calls this Chef-ing), restoring old homes, and creating new homes as well.
